Our attorneys are experienced in obtaining recovery from third-party tortfeasors, including product manufacturers whose product caused a fire or other casualty to the insured’s property. MRV subrogation attorneys also are experienced in assisting to preserve a loss scene and critical evidence in coordination with insurance carrier representatives and retained experts.
MRV has represented their subrogation clients throughout the state of Illinois and in the United States District Court’s northern and central Illinois districts.
For the year June 1, 2007, through May 31, 2008, the subrogation attorneys participated in 57 mandatory Court Annex mediations, winning 52. The total awarded by the mediators in the successful arbitrations was $208,422.65.
Obtained recovery against a general contractor for a subcontractor’s failure to properly protect a home during renovation, allowing rainwater to cause extensive damage to the property. The case was complicated by the subcontractor’s business failure and its owners not being amenable to service of process.
Obtained recovery against a trucking company under the Carmack Amendment for allowing dry goods to become contaminated with an onion odor due to the trailer’s prior shipment of vegetables.
Represented a worker’s compensation lienholder, maximizing recovery on the lien in a multiparty lawsuit with a limited liability policy.
Obtained recovery against a domestic automobile manufacturer when a recent model SUV caught fire due to a faulty fuel line assembly.
